Columbia's Expediter is now available in a 4-wheel version. The EX21-F provides users with a 168-inch outside turning circle. By raising the rear portion of the body by 2 inches, Columbia has tried to eliminate the potential for the unit to bottom out. Other features for the Expediter are front wheel guards, integrated front bumper and chamfered corners. An automotive-style steering wheel is available. The front body design assists in preventing mud and water from splashing on the operator. Cub Cadet's 6 × 4 Big Country utility vehicle is powered by a 20-hp Honda V-twin OHV engine. Its 6-wheel, fully independent suspension provides maximum traction over rough terrain. Big Country models offer standard differential lock to provide traction for hauling or towing through various conditions. New innovations include brush guard, open fender well to limit mud clogging in the tires and a removable hood that allows you to get at the battery while the brush guard is in place. John Deere introduces the Gator Compact Series utility vehicles. The Gator CS and the Gator CX can turn in tight places, fit in narrow spaces and be transported in the bed of a pickup truck. The cargo box features a high-density polyethylene construction and holds up to 400 pounds with a 5-cubic-foot storage capacity. The tailgate can be opened or removed for easier cleaning or to carry longer items. Both models are equipped with air-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-cycle Kawasaki gasoline engines. The RTV900 has Kubota's hydrostatic transmission and hydraulic power steering. The TigreCar is a short wheelbase, 4-wheel-drive unit that has a 64-hp turbo diesel engine, rear 540 PTO and patented ACTIO suspension. Toro introduces its first electric product, the Toro Workman electric utility vehicle. This product has a peak motor current of 500 amps and exhibits hill-climbing capability under all load conditions. A fuel gauge shows the operator how much battery power remains, and when the batteries do become low, the unit limits top speed and acceleration to alert the operator to drive the vehicle to a charging location. Safety features include a plug detector that stops the unit from operating when plugged in for recharging. The run-away protection indicator applies the brake and beeps if the unit ever rolls down a hill without the operator depressing the accelerator. It also includes a supervisor switch that controls the maximum speed employees can drive the vehicle.
