Until recently, Agnes Scott College was a campus of distinguished architecture without a connective fabric. Spaces were unorganized; visual and physical connections were unrealized; and randomly selected landscape elements required high maintenance.

Improvements at Evans Dining Hall included a new pedestrian approach and landscaping at the main entrance; a raised dining terrace on the north side of the building; and an intricately paved large dining and function terrace on the south side of the building.

Referred to as the college's front door, the north entry is not only highly visible, but also a valuable space for large campus functions. For years, shade from the dense canopy tree, a non-functioning irrigation system, and dry summers created an impossible environment for the lawn. Strategies to improve the health of the lawn included removing dead, hazardous, and declining trees, pruning mature trees to increase light levels, installing an irrigation system, and specifying shade-tolerant fescue sod.

Woodruff Quadrangle is a central, large green that connects the east and west ends of campus. Prior to the renovation, the periphery of the space often was filled with park vehicles. A large brick wall in the middle of the space created upper and lower lawn areas. During its renovation, the space was transformed to remove day-to-day vehicles, and to replace the brick wall with a smooth grade to accommodate concerts and gathering. New precast concrete pathways and reinforced turf continue to provide a 20-foot clear route for emergency vehicles.
