This year is the 15th year I've been a member of the Grounds Maintenance editorial team. I've been involved in its continuing evolution and have implemented changes to make it more valuable to you in your business and key to your needs. But this year, we embarked on a mission to leap forward in making GM even better. You undoubtedly noticed our magazine redesign with the July issue. We also just added new members to the GM editorial staff and created new roles for current staff members.

Cindy Ratcliff is now editor of Grounds Maintenance. Cindy has worked her way through the ranks of GM editorial and was most recently managing editor of GM and editor of GM's Snow & Ice Manager magazine. Cindy is in charge of the day-to-day operation of GM and, along with myself, is your main contact at GM for questions and comments you may have. Cindy replaces Eric Liskey, who recently took a position with a consumer-gardening publication. Please join me in wishing Eric well and congratulating Cindy in her new role.

One of the hallmarks of GM is the fact that we have people on staff who have “walked-the-walk” in the industry. I've always felt that an effective publication in this industry must have a complement of journalists on staff and those with hands-on experience in the field we write about. Way back when, I was hired for my technical background and industry experience, having worked on the maintenance crew on a golf course in Massachusetts for 10 years and served as a professor of Agronomy-Turf Management at the University of Maryland. Continuing our tradition of on-staff expertise, we recently hired Tony Tredente as equipment technical editor. Tony has more than 25 years in the grounds-care equipment business. He has worked for major equipment manufacturers and a number of equipment distributors, so he knows equipment and the industry like no one else in this business. Tony also was a golf course superintendent and is a graduate of Michigan State University's Turf Management program. Tony brings his hands-on experience and knowledge of turf and grounds-care equipment to the pages of GM.

Rebecca Bridson also recently joined the GM editorial staff as associate editor. Becky has a long track record in magazine publishing having worked on the editorial staffs of two other PRIMEDIA publications, including Rental Equipment Register, the premier publication serving equipment rental industry.

With the redesign of our publication in July and the staff additions we recently made, I'm sure you will agree that GM is positioned better than ever to bring you the information you need in your business. Please drop us a line and welcome our new team members to the GM staff.
