March's Chemical Update series on Turfgrass Fungicides erraneously reported that BASF's Insignia has obtained EPA registration for use. This product is not yet registered. Insignia (pyraclostrobin) is a fungicide in the strobilurin group. Although Insignia is translaminar and locally systemic, it is not considered truly systemic and is, therefore, a contact fungicide. It will be marketed by BASF as a granular product, and the first proposed label pending at EPA specifies no ornamental use; however, BASF is evaluating this use. Insignia's proposed label indicates the product's use for suppression of dollar spot; as a curative control for brown patch; and as a preventative for gray leaf spot and Pythium.
