GCSAA CONFERENCE AND SHOW SAILS INTO SAN DIEGO
The 75th Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) International Golf Course Conference and Show will be held at the San Diego Convention Center in California on Feb. 9-14, 2004.
The week-long schedule of activities kicks off with the 2004 GCSAA Golf Championship, presented in partnership with The Toro Co., Feb. 9-10, at six San Diego-area golf courses.
The Welcoming Reception, 5:30 p.m., Feb. 11, presented at a new time in partnership with United Horticultural Supply and Bayer Environmental Science, will mark the start of the conference and show.
Sports broadcaster Jim Nantz will present the keynote address at the Opening Session, sponsored by United Horticultural Supply and Bayer Environmental Science, from 9-10:30 a.m. on Feb. 12. Nantz has been a regular golf announcer for CBS Sports since 1986 and has hosted the network's coverage of the Masters Tournament since 1989.
On the afternoon of Feb. 13, the Career Management Forum, presented in partnership with LebanonTurf, will take place. Panelists will present strategies for a successful career in golf course management that include finding the right job for you, understanding the qualifications and qualities employers most often look for and highlighting career opportunities with management companies.
At the association's annual meeting, Feb. 14, GCSAA members will elect three officers and two directors from a field of seven categories.
The GCSAA Dinner Show, 6 p.m. on Feb. 14, presented in partnership with Bayer Environmental Science, will mark the passing of the gavel by GCSAA President Jon D. Maddern, CGCS. In addition, GCSAA's highest honor, the Old Tom Morris Award, will be presented to golf course architect Rees Jones.
