Dedman Joins Advisory Council of The Environmental Institute for Golf
The Environmental Institute for Golf has named Robert H. Dedman Jr. to its advisory council. He is chairman of the board of ClubCorp, Inc. and becomes the 12th member of the advisory council headed by Greg Norman.
Dedman received a bachelor of arts in economics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1979, an M.B.A. with highest honors in 1980 and a Juris Doctor Cum Laude in 1984, both from Southern Methodist University.
He was director of corporate planning for ClubCorp from 1980 to 1984 before serving as an associate at Salomon Brothers Inc. In 1987 he returned to ClubCorp as chief financial officer and was named president and chief operating officer in January 1989. In July 1998, Dedman was named chief executive officer and in August 2002, he was named chairman of the board.
Dedman serves on the board of directors of ClubCorp, as well as Home Interiors & Gifts, Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, JPMorgan Chase Dallas Region and the University of Texas at Austin Development Board. He is an executive board member of Golf 20/20, a national trustee in the Southwest Region of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, a trustee of Southern Methodist University, Southwestern Medical Foundation and the Dallas Museum of Art and past chairman of the Texas Business Hall of Fame. He is a member of The Young Presidents’ Organization, Dallas Citizens Council and chairs the Southern Methodist University’s 21st Century Council.
The purpose of the advisory council is to provide guidance to The Institute’s board of in the areas of outreach, fundraising and strategic planning. The members were selected to the advisory council to enhance The Institute’s ability to cultivate relationships with current and potential donors, as well as communicate the importance of the work conducted by The Institute.
