Association of Professional Landscape Designers Announces New Chapter Formations
The Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD) has announced the formation of a new chapter, serving APLD landscape designers in the Pennsylvania/Delaware region. The Pennsylvania/Delaware Regional Chapter joins APLD chapters already formed in California, Midwest Regional, Intermountain Regional, New England Regional, Oregon, Southwest Regional, Washington and DC-MD-VA.
The chapter’s goal, according to new chapter president and treasurer, Maria Hasenecz of Livable Landscapes, Inc., is to provide additional networking opportunities to APLD members, and to provide high quality educational opportunities not currently available through other organizations in the region. Hasenecz said, “We look forward to expanding upon the excellent work APLD has done to promote education, professionalism and recognition for designers and contractors in our region. We hope to have an influence within and outside the profession in our area, and we feel our voice will be strengthened with the backing of an international organization.”
APLD is the only international organization serving landscape designers, with its 1,100 members specializing primarily in residential design and construction. Its goal is to advance landscape design as an independent profession and to promote the recognition of landscape designers as highly qualified, dedicated professionals.
Benefits of membership in APLD include:
- National Conferences
- Certification program to demonstrate competency in design
- Advocacy for right to practice in state legislatures when designers’ rights are threatened
- Quarterly newsletter
- Monthly on-line publication with up-to-date information
- A listing on the APLD website with a link to the designers website
- Web site resources and chat forum
- Complimentary subscriptions to national magazines
- Discounted rates for regional seminars
Potential members of the Pennsylvania/Delaware Regional Chapter must first be a member of the international organization. Those considering chapter membership may attend two chapter meetings before joining APLD’s Pennsylvania/Delaware Regional Chapter. For more information about the APLD, call 717-238-9780. Information is also available at the APLD Web site, www.apld.org.
