Bayer Announces Revolver Sweepstakes Winner
Shane Wright, golf course superintendent at Ballen Isles Country Club in Palm Beach Garden, Fla., is the winner of the Revolver Sweepstakes, sponsored by Bayer Environmental Science. Selected in a random drawing, Wright received 200,000 Accolades points to use toward a selection of rewards prizes.
“It’s a great feeling to win,“ said Wright, a University of Kentucky turfgrass graduate who has been with Ballen Isles for two years. “I’m thinking of purchasing a laptop computer with my points, but I haven’t definitely decided yet. This is the first time I’ve ever won anything!“
Launched last summer, the Revolver Sweepstakes was open to Southern superintendents who purchased Revolver herbicide. The offer included double Accolades points for the first Revolver purchase, in addition to one entry into the sweepstakes for every case purchased through March 31, 2004.
Introduced in late 1999, the Bayer Accolades program allows users to earn points toward rewards by purchasing products. Rewards include turf equipment, electronic items, fishing and hunting gear, sports equipment, trips and donations to turfgrass associations.
“Shane uses Revolver for goosegrass control, as well as for transition management,“ said Brian MacCurrach, Bayer sales representative for southeastern Florida. “He was pretty excited to win the contest.“
Registered last year, Revolver selectively removes cool-season grasses from warm-season grasses. Containing the new sulfonylurea active ingredient, foramsulfuron, Revolver may be used on tolerant warm-season turfgrasses, including numerous cultivars of bermudagrass and zoysiagrass.
