Bayleton Approved for Fairy Ring Prevention in 16 States
Sixteen states recently approved a 2(ee) recommendation for use of Bayleton 50 WP fungicide as a preventative treatment for fairy ring in turfgrass, Bayer Environmental Science announced. Used as a preventative treatment, Bayleton provides control of fairy ring, a disease caused by a soil-borne basidiomycete fungi.
Fairy ring is identified by its dark green or brown rings that can range in size from a few inches to several feet in diameter. Fairy ring can also lead to the formation of hydrophobic soil conditions.
States that have approved Bayleton for fairy ring prevention are: Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.
The approval allows for tank mixing of Bayleton with an appropriate soil wetting agent to assist with disease control by allowing optimum penetration of the fungicide and also reducing hydrophobic soil conditions.
