Brookings Honored for Distinguished Services by TPI
Louis and Ginger Brooking of Brookmeade Sod Farm, Doswell, Va., were this year’s recipients of the Distinguished Service Award presented by Turfgrass Producers International (TPI) at the 38th TPI Midwinter Conference held in Savannah, Ga.
TPI’s Distinguished Service Award acknowledges outstanding devotion of time, talent and energy to TPI, its programs and objectives for five or more years.
In presenting the award to the Brooking’s on behalf of the Board of Trustees and the entire membership, TPI President Warren Bell commented, “Lou and Ginger Brooking have been keeping the state of Virginia green for over 30 years and during that time they have both been actively involved in TPI and in supporting the efforts of the International Turf Producers Foundation (ITPF). During his affiliation with TPI, Lou Brooking served on the Board of Trustees for eight years and served as the association’s President in ’94-’95. He also served as ITPF’s President in 2003-04. In addition to his dedication and commitment to TPI, Lou has served as the Chairman on the Executive Committee of the Virginia Agribusiness Council and as President of the Virginia Turfgrass Council.”
Of Ginger Brooking, Bell commented, “From the very outset Ginger has been involved and supportive of TPI in numerous ways that have had a positive and influential impact on our association and our members.”
Brookmeade Sod Farm is located in central Virginia and specializes in the production, delivery and installation of quality turfgrass.
