Funding North Carolina Students’ Futures

The Turfgrass Council of North Carolina awarded seven North Carolina turf students monetary scholarships for the 2005-06 school year.

The following students were chosen by interview, from the turf schools in North Carolina, including North Carolina State University, Central Piedmont and Catawba Valley Community College.

North Carolina State University students were awarded a total of $5,500.00 in scholarships. They were, Zach Hartman of Lexington who plans to graduate with a two-year degree in turfgrass management; Brooks Graham of Morehead City who plans to graduate with a two-year degree in turfgrass management; Wesley Crompton of High Point who plans to graduate with a four-year degree in agronomy/turfgrass management; David Tremblay, II of Raleigh who plans to graduate with a two-year degree in turfgrass management; and Shuji Dong of Raleigh who is expected to graduate with a Ph.D. in crop science.

Catawba Valley Community College was honored with one scholarship recipient. It goes to John Thompson of Woodleaf who plans to graduate with an associate’s degree in turfgrass management.

Central Piedmont Community College was honored with one scholarship recipient. It goes to Salvador Garcia of Kannapolis who plans to graduate with an associate’s degree in turfgrass Management.
