Cleveland Named Director of U.S. Green Business for Bayer
Neil Cleveland has been named director of the U.S. Green Business for Bayer Environmental Science, assuming the new position on April 1, 2006. Currently, Cleveland holds the position of global portfolio manager of Green Business, based at the global headquarters for Bayer Environmental Science in Lyon, France.
Formerly regional sales manager, U.S. Lawn Care & Landscape for Bayer, Cleveland headed the first national sales district dedicated to the lawn care and landscape/grounds maintenance industry by a basic manufacturer. Based in Kansas City, he managed 10 sales representatives and a key accounts manager.
Previously, Cleveland was the northern regional sales manager for Bayer Environmental Science and prior to that, he spent five years working for Bayer Corporation in Kansas City. Cleveland was area sales manager from 2001 through 2002 and marketing brand manager from 1997 to 2001. As marketing brand manager, he introduced the business unitís first Agency Marketing program and received a Leadership Award for outstanding performance in 1999.
Cleveland was based in York, Pa. as a senior sales representative for Bayer Corporation from 1993 through 1996. From 1980 through 1992, he worked for ChemLawn Services Corp. He was a branch manager in Allentown, Pa. from 1987 to 1992, field services manager in Indiana and New York from 1983 through 1986, satellite coordinator in Cherry Hill, N.J. from 1982 to 1983, and field specialist in Warminster, Pa. from 1980 to 1982.
A member of the board of directors for the Professional Lawn Care Association of America (PLCAA), Cleveland received a bachelor of science in agronomy from Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Pa., in 1980.
