EPA Recognizes ANLA Member Florikan
American Nursery and Landscape Association (ANLA) member Ed Rosenthal, founder of Florikan (Florida) was recently presented the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Gulf Guardian Award. Rosenthal, winner of the ANLA 2004 Allied Associate Award, along with his wife Betty, were honored to receive the award, which recognized Florikan’s effort to reduce potential run off of nutrients with the development of Staged Nutrient Release Fertilizer. This award is a significant environmental leadership award presented to government state researchers, counties, municipalities, utilities and not-for-profit organizations.
“It is amazing, as a fertilizer manufacturer, to receive an award from the EPA,” stated Rosenthal after receiving the award.
“The Gulf Guardian Award is wonderful recognition for Ed and the Florikan staff, and of the ongoing commitment of nurseries, landscape firms and garden centers to be responsible stewards of the environment,” said ANLA President Buzz Bertolero, commenting on the award.
Florikan, which recently celebrated 25 years in business, has been the recipient of more than ten awards in recognition of product development and environmental responsibility. “To me, this is an award to the whole industry,” states Rosenthal. “It is not only our product, but the companies who make the decision to use this product.”
