EPIC Producing Volunteer Video for U.S. Amateur Tournament

EPIC Creative Communications announced it is producing the tournament volunteer video for Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa. The ten-minute video highlights tournament prep work and will be given to the golf course maintenance volunteers involved with preparation for the U.S. Amateur, held August 22-28, 2005.

“There’s a great deal of energy that goes into preparing for a tournament of this magnitude,” said Matt Shaffer, superintendent at Merion Golf Club. “We couldn’t do it without volunteer efforts, so the video is a wonderful way to say thanks.”

In 2004, EPIC produced similar videos for several national tournaments including the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills and the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits. For every video, EPIC works with the golf course superintendent to capture the two days of pre-tournament preparatory work. The video package includes shooting, editing, 150 DVD copies to distribute to volunteers and still photography.

“Not only is a video of this nature a memento for the many volunteers, but it’s also a resource to prepare for future tournaments,” said Jim Becker, president of EPIC. “It captures the intensity and magic of the days before a major tournament – it’s a stressful time, but the enthusiasm emulates from all involved.”
