Fire at Hustler Turf Equipment Product Facility

At 8:15 pm on Monday, Dec. 12, Excel Industries, Inc., manufacturer of Hustler, suffered a significant fire to the Plant 1 production facility. Although the fire was quickly extinguished, there was considerable damage to the main power distribution system causing a loss of electricity to the main manufacturing facility, computer systems, and administrative offices. Plants 2, 3 and 4 are undamaged other than computer and telephone service.

At this time, it is not known how long it will take to restore electrical service. It is estimated that telephone and computer service will be restored in a couple of days. Preliminary estimates are that it will take two to three weeks to have full electrical service.

Hustler distributors have parts and whole goods in stock and can meet any immediate customer needs.

If there is a silver lining to this disaster, it is that Excel was due to take its customary Christmas break shut down. Preliminary forecasts are that this fire will not cause more than a minor delay in production of Hustler lawn mowers.
