Green Industry Conference Features Spanish Speakers and Sessions

The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) recently announced that participants in its Green Industry Conference, Nov. 1–4, 2006, in Columbus, Ohio, may take part in a busy lineup of presentations, some of which will be delivered in Spanish.

Conference participants may select from a variety of sessions conducted in Spanish that are designed to meet the needs of Hispanic leaders in the green industry. Some of the topics featured in Spanish include the following sessions:

Ed Correa, CLT, of Terra Landscaping, will lead the “Opportunities in the Green Industry for Hispanics” session. In this dynamic session, Correa will discuss the abundant educational opportunities for the Hispanic community in the green industry. Attendees will learn about the green industry’s future, the various careers and certifications available to them in the green industry and the colleges and universities nationwide that offer these careers.

“Survive and Thrive as a Landscape Supervisor” will be hosted by Elias Godinez, CLT, of Pacific Landscape Management. Session attendees will learn the importance of understanding the differences between American and Hispanic cultures and customs and using them to their advantage in increasing their businesses’ success.

“Confronting Conflict Head-On” will reveal the most beneficial tactics to resolve conflict. Seth Dechtman, of Marina Del Ray, Calif., will lead this session, using his extensive experience to expose attendees to a wide range of techniques to help them become proactive when dealing with difficult situations.

Feliza Guerro, of Del Conte’s Landscaping, Inc., will lead the “Understanding Business Decisions” session. In this powerful session, Guerro will discuss how to bridge the gap between employers and employees to achieve a successful, thriving corporate culture. Employees will gain a broader understanding of the fundamental principles behind the most common business decisions made in the green industry and will learn how to enhance their success within a company. Employers will learn techniques to explain their business decisions in order to achieve the best results for their operations and company culture.

Those who attend the “Invisible Tools: Advanced Communication Skills for Managers” session will explore new ways to communicate—verbally and nonverbally—to ensure that their organizations’ objectives will be met successfully. Seth Decthma, of Marina Del Ray, Calif., will lead this workshop and will give participants new communication techniques and strategies that will help them become more effective leaders in their companies.
