Briggs & Stratton receives ISO 9001 Certification
Briggs & Stratton recently received ISO 9001 Certification for the Distribution Sales & Customer Support and Distribution Operation Divisions. Receiving this internationally recognized Quality certification is a distinguished accomplishment and identifies the DSCS and Distribution Operations Divisions as being committed to providing customers with superior service, exceeding satisfaction levels.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies from some 140 countries, one from each country. It is a non-governmental organization established to promote the development of standardization and related activities in the world, facilitate the international exchange of goods and services and develop cooperation in the spheres of intellectual, scientific, technological and economic activity. ISO’s work results in international agreements, which are published as International Standards.
Briggs & Stratton’s’ machining facilities are already ISO certified. Total Quality Management (TQM) has become the normal operating procedure for many manufacturers, resulting in substantially improved product quality. This level of product quality helps the manufacturing sector maintain their competitive edge. With a liberalized economic environment wherein customers have a lot of options to choose from, the service sector is beginning to implement Total Quality Service (TQS) practices, emphasizing what the customer wants. Unlike a defective product, a shoddy service cannot be replaced—it’s got to be “right the first time” and “right every time.”
