Caterpillar introduces security system for compacts
Peoria, Ill.-based Caterpillar introduced a system that uses electronic keys to help equipment owners deter theft and manage machine access.
With Cat's Machine Security System (MSS), each key has a unique digital ID and only keys owners have programmed into the system will start designated machines. The system is available as a factory-installed machine attachment and as a dealer-installed retrofit kit. When the security system is installed on a machine, owners can program keys to determine accessibility, control the timeframe for machine startup and provide theft deterrence.
MSS is available on many of Caterpillar's smaller machines, including certain models of skid-steer loaders, backhoes, compact wheel loaders, medium wheel loaders and telehandlers.
