Course to implement design changes

Augusta National Golf Club has announced it is changing several holes in an effort to make the famous course more modern and challenging to expert golfers. The yardage has grown 285 yards from 6,985 yards to 7,270. Additionally, trees will be added and bunkers renovated.

Augusta chairman Hootie Johnson had suggested earlier this year that changes were in the offing. As Johnson has noted, however, changes are not new at Augusta, explaining that Cliff Roberts and Bob Jones also made improvements to the course in their time.
