Deere & Co. Extends Commitment to John Deere Classic through 2010
Deere & Co. and the PGA TOUR announces a four-year extension of Deere’s title sponsorship of the John Deere Classic, extending its involvement with the tournament through 2010. Additionally, Deere has expanded its licensing agreement with the PGA TOUR.
The new licensing agreement extends John Deere’s designation as the official golf course equipment supplier of the PGA TOUR through 2014, and also adds John Deere Credit as the official golf course equipment leasing company of the PGA TOUR and John Deere Landscapes as the official landscape product supplier of the PGA TOUR.
“Our company’s relationship with professional golf has resulted in many positive benefits since our first agreement with the PGA TOUR in 1997,” said Deere & Company chairman and chief executive officer Robert W. Lane. “Importantly, the John Deere Classic has raised nearly six million dollars for charity in the Quad Cities.”
Deere’s current title sponsorship of the John Deere Classic was slated to run until 2006. The company said it decided to extend and expand the agreement now to underscore its leadership position in the equipment, credit and landscape markets.
The John Deere Classic will be played the week of September 8–14 at the Tournament Players Club at Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., two miles from Deere & Company’s World Headquarters in Moline, Ill.. Starting in 2004, the tournament will be played in early July the week before the British Open.
