Deere recalls 49 Dubuque employees
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reported last week that 49 employees laid off from John Deere Dubuque Works late last year will be recalled beginning Jan. 27, according to Deere & Co.
An increase in demand for products made at the Dubuque plant as well as the loss of workers through retirement led to the employee recall.
The employees’ return could be spread out over several weeks. They were laid off indefinitely in November because of weak market demand for construction equipment. The Dubuque plant, which designs and produces backhoes, graders, loaders, excavators and forklifts, employs approximately 800 manufacturing employees.
