Dow AgroSciences Helps Hispanic Workers Learn Pesticide Use Information

Turf care professionals who have struggled with translating pesticide use directions will get some help from Dow AgroSciences and two new “how-to” posters printed in English on one side and Spanish on the other.

Posters with information on using Snapshot and Gallery specialty herbicides are being sent this month to about 8,000 landscape managers and nursery operators. The posters describe when to apply these products, application rates, spray drift, clean up and storage. “Given the important role Hispanic workers play in our industry and with all the discussion regarding guest worker programs, it makes sense to provide materials that help this group understand how to apply our preemergence herbicides with confidence,” says Brent Stauffacher, communications manager for the Specialties group at Dow AgroSciences.

According to U.S. Census data, the Hispanic population of the United States grew 63 percent from 1990 to 2000.

“For many managers, we realize, understanding Spanish is essential to better communication with their crew,” says Stauffacher. “These posters are designed to help.”

Additional copies of the posters are available as downloadable files from the respective product pages on
