Exhibitor participation on the rise for International Lawn, Garden & Power Equipment Expo
By the first week in December, 210 companies had already reserved space for the 2003 International Lawn, Garden and Power Equipment Expo (EXPO). The tradeshow is set for Saturday through Monday, October 18-20, which is a departure from its traditional July dates. This annual event, sponsored by the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI), is the 10th largest tradeshow in North America, according to Tradeshow Week magazine. It will be held at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville.
Show Director Warren Sellers reports that the 2003 show already has attracted 14 exhibitors that were not in the 2002 EXPO. He adds that EXPO was moved to a fall schedule to better accommodate attendees. In a recent survey 90 percent of responding dealers and 81 percent of responding landscape professionals preferred October dates. The change seems to have had a positive impact on exhibitor response. “Last year, when we were 46 weeks out from the show, we had received 106 contracts, compared with 210 this year,” he said.
