EXPO 2004 Set for September 24-26The dates for the 2004 International Lawn, Garden & Power Equipment Expo are set for Friday through Sunday, September 24-26. The annual event, held at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, will draw industry members worldwide. EXPO is sponsored by the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI).
Warren Sellers, show director, said the show’s move to September from October in 2004 is simply a matter of availability of the facility. Beginning with 2005, EXPO has already contracted with the exposition center to have more consistent dates in October.
As visitors at EXPO 2003 saw, the $52-million expansion of the Kentucky Exposition Center’s South Wing has already begun. This project will add 166,500 sq. ft. of prime exhibit space, 57,000 sq. ft. of additional meeting and conference space and a larger reception area.
Sellers said that, while the expansion will not be complete in time for EXPO 2004, it will not affect logistics indoors. The demo area may be slightly reconfigured. The construction should be completed in time for EXPO 2005.
Following the 2003 show, exhibitors and visitors alike indicated the change to fall dates was a positive move. Dealers and end-users were able to bring more people to the show. And, the timing in the production cycle allowed manufacturers to introduce more new products. Finally, the cooler fall temperatures made the hands-on demonstrations in the outdoor demo area even more popular. Sellers said that surveys and informal feedback indicated that a Friday-Saturday-Sunday format is the preferred timing.
