Fall Dates Help Boost Success of EXPO 2003

Sunny weather in the 70s and a myriad of new products set the stage for the 2003 International Lawn, Garden & Power Equipment Expo (EXPO), Oct. 18-20 in Louisville. EXPO is sponsored annually by the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute, Inc. (OPEI).

Dealers, retailers, commercial mowing contractors and general contractors packed the aisles and roamed the 20-acre outdoor demonstration area, comparing the new products and talking with suppliers. By the close of the show, 20,122 buying attendees had registered for the show.

Registration categories and their comparisons with 2002:

  • Dealers: 6,223; +19%
  • Distributors:1,707; +17%
  • Merchandisers/Buyers: 547; +36%
  • Rental Dealers: 265; -12%
  • Total Retailers: 8,551; 6%
  • Lawn & Landscape Pros: 8,313; +20%
  • General Contractors: 974; +34%
  • About 500 exhibitors showcased their products, and 146 companies demonstrated equipment in the 20-acre outdoor demo park, adjacent to the Kentucky Expo Center. There also were 176 new exhibitors this year.

    For the past three years, the New Product Showroom has been a hot attraction for EXPO visitors. With the new fall dates, more exhibitors were able to introduce their new lines at the show. Seventy-two products were on display in the Showroom and visitors got a sneak-peek at some of the new products just released or soon-to-be released.
