Jay Morrish elected President of ASGCA
Jay Morrish of Dallas, one of the country’s most regarded golf course architects, was elected President of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) at the group’s recent annual meeting in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Morrish has worked with some of the leading golf course architects during his career, starting with the firm of Robert Trent Jones, Sr. (one of the Society’s founding members and past presidents) in 1964. After working with George Fazio, Morrish teamed up with golf legend and fellow ASGCA member Jack Nicklaus from 1972 until 1982. He later started his own firm with golfer Tom Wesikopf. Morrish currently works on his own with his son, Carter.
Among the courses Morrish has designed and remodeled are the Las Colinas Sports Club (home of the Byron Nelson Classic) in Irving, Texas; Troon Golf & Country Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.; Double Eagle Golf Club in Galena, Ohio; and Stone Canyon Golf Club in Oro Valley, Ariz.
