Monarchs safe from Bt afterall
Reports in 1999 that corn genetically engineered to contain the Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) toxin could harm monarch butterflies raised a cry from environmentalists. Others criticized the study that purported the risk, saying that the research did not reflect real-world exposures. Now, the EPA apparently agrees, reportedly concluding that Bt-corn poses little threat to monarchs based on several unpublished studies.
