Monsanto improves, but still posts losses

For the third quarter of 2001, Monsanto reported losses of $37 million. This is slightly greater than analysts had expected. Quarterly revenue dropped to $936 million, compared to just over $1 billion a year ago.

Monsanto's products include Roundup, the world's best-selling herbicide, the Roundup Ready family of seeds and other genetically modified seeds.
