Perennial Plant Association Offers Student Opportunities
The Perennial Plant Association (PPA) offers educational opportunities for college students studying horticulture or a related field. Each year, the PPA awards scholarships to deserving horticulture students who have a strong interest in herbaceous perennials. This year, six $1,000 scholarships will once again be awarded. Students must be enrolled full-time at an accredited two or four-year institution and have at least one semester or quarter remaining before graduation. Applications are available online at www.perennialplant.org. All applications materials must be postmarked by March 1, 2004.
The PPA also awards four Symposium Scholarship Grants, allowing recipients to attend the 2004 Perennial Plant Symposium in New York City, July 5-10, 2004. Registration fees for all tours, workshops and lectures are provided for recipients, as well as seven nights lodging at the convention hotel. Two undergraduate and two graduate students will be selected. The grants are available to students attending colleges or universities in the Northeast Region (New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine). Applications are available online and all application materials must be postmarked by March 1, 2004.
Additionally, the Perennial Plant Association complies an internship directory each year, listing internships nationwide that are available to students studying horticulture related fields. Visit the Web site for the 2004 Internship Directory.
