Plant a tree before the 2002 Winter Olympics
The
Salt Lake Olympic Committee is encouraging Americans to plant trees before the
2002 Winter Olympic Games. Their campaign “Plant It Green!” is designed to
raise awareness of urban forestry, which is planting and environmental
stewardship, including aftercare and education, in urban and community areas.
The committee hopes that 2 million trees will be planted before the Winter
Games.
Trees
can be registered online at www.saltlake2002.com/plantitgreen.
Registrants will receive a special “Plant It Green!” certificate. Currently,
ALCA is the only trade association serving as part of the steering committee for
the United Green Industry Council, which is working in partnership with the
Winter Olympics to help direct the environmental effort.
