Rutgers graduate receives Musser Foundation Award

Ann Bonos, a Ph. D. candidate at Rutgers University, has been chosen to receive
the Musser International Turfgrass Foundation Award of Excellence for 2001. The
annual award, named in memory of turfgrass scientist Professor H. Burton Musser,
is presented to an outstanding doctoral student of turfgrass science who has
made significant and innovative contributions to turfgrass science research.
This year’s winner also receives an $18,000 cash award.
Bonos
earned a Masters Degree from Rutgers in 1997 with her thesis, “Evaluation of
Kentucky Bluegrass Genotypes in Response to Summer Stress.” Her Ph. D. thesis
is titled “Heritability of Dollar Spot Resistance in Creeping Bentgrass.”
Bonos has decided to stay on at Rutgers as an assistant professor and work on
research projects.
