Summer brings people outside
Ninety-five percent of Americans will spend more than two hours a week outdoors while at home this summer, according to an eBrain Online Poll. More than one-quarter of households plan to spend more than 13 hours a week outside at home this summer.
Most of this time is spent in front and back yards, as more than 80 percent of consumers said they have both a front and back yard. More than 50 percent of consumers use this space for grilling and gardening. Forty percent of U.S. consumers use this space for taking care of pets, too.
Over the next 6 months, 68 percent of respondents plan to spend money on flowers and plants for their outdoor space, whether a yard or deck. More than 30 percent will spend money on materials for yard improvements and 29 percent will spend money on garden equipment and outdoor lawn furniture.
Twelve percent will purchase swimming pool equipment and five percent will spend money on stereo equipment for outside use.
