Tanaka introduces EPA 2005 compliant 2-cycle engine

Tanaka Power Equipment is the FIRST manufacturer to have a 2-cycle engine certified to C.A.R.B. (California Air Resource Board) Tier II regulations, and is also the FIRST to introduce a new generation of PureFire ® 2-cycle engines that meet/exceed the EPA’s stringent 2005 emission regulations and C.A.R.B.’s Tier III standards.

There are a lot of rumors going around that the EPA’s new regulations will effectively remove 2-cycle power equipment from the industry, but this new generation of PureFire® technology will ensure the continued availability of 2-cycle products to the outdoor power equipment industry for many years to come.

The 250PF engine family will include a Grass Trimmer/Brush Cutter, Edger, Pole Hedgetrimmer, & Pruning Saw with more models to follow. This 24cc, 1.2 hp PureFire 2-cycle engine reduces emissions to even lower levels and is even more fuel-efficient.
