TPI Wraps Up Successful England Conference

The prospect of a war in Iraq did not deter more than 300 turf producers from 19 countries who participated in the first Turfgrass Producers International (TPI) Winter Conference hosted outside North America in Birmingham, England, on Feb. 26-28.

The two-day educational program included a world “show-and-tell” session featuring TPI member-speakers from six continents who discussed country-specific turfgrass production. The conference culminated with a special fundraising “England’s Castles & Gardens” banquet at Birmingham’s Botanical Gard4ens where ITPF (International Turf Producers Foundation) raised more than $136,000 to support turf research projects.

TPI’s Summer Convention & Field Days are scheduled for July 22-25, 2003, in Dayton, Ohio, followed by the Midwinter Conference and Exhibition, Feb. 19-21, 2004, in Santa Barbara, Calif.
