Turf pioneer dies

The Professional Lawn Care Association reported that Turf Doctor's John Kenney passed away from cancer on Nov. 26. He was a pioneer in the turf industry, and many still in the business today owe a lot of their success to the start they received at Turf Doctor. Importantly, he was an active leader during the baptism of the industry in the mid/late '70's with pesticide issues, and was a former PLCAA President.

By one estimate, 25 companies were spawned after employment at Turf Doctor, let alone the numerous employees at major companies.
