PLANET Announces Dates for Safety Recognition Awards Program
All green industry companies are invited to participate in the Professional Landcare Network’s (PLANET) annual Safety Recognition Awards Program. Applications will be mailed in January and also will be available at www.landcarenetwork.org. Entries must be returned to PLANET by April 7, 2006, and require a $25 administrative entry fee. The program covers the period of Jan. 1, 2005, through Dec. 31, 2005.
Program sponsors are PLANET, CNA and Ariens/Gravely/Stens, who show their commitment to creating and maintaining safe work environments in the green industry by recognizing companies that consistently demonstrate their commitment to safety. Awards are given to companies in the following categories: “No Vehicle Accidents,” “No Injuries or Illnesses” and “No Days Away From Work.” Additionally, contestants who participated in previous programs are eligible for the “Most Improved” category.
Returning to the recognition program are the Overall Safety Achievement Awards that were created for last year’s awards program. These awards honor those companies with thorough, high-performing safety programs. Results of the Overall Safety Achievement Awards will be kept confidential until the awards banquet at the 2006 Green Industry Conference in Columbus, Ohio, Nov. 1–4, 2006.
Companies participating in the program must submit a copy of their OSHA Form 300A Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses and a copy of their year-end vehicle insurance claims summary report. Participants also will be required to complete a Safety Program Checklist, which will be included with their application.
