PLANET Releases New Safety CD
The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) has released a new product, the STARS Safety Program for Green Industry Companies, on CD. This ready-to-use safety program can be adopted as is or customized to meet companies’ specific needs. This new CD is sponsored by CNA and LaPorte & Associates.
The STARS (Safety Training Achieves Remarkable Success) Safe Company Program is a safety initiative developed by PLANET to assist green-industry companies in their efforts to lower their total costs of risk by reducing hazards and injuries. There is no fee to participate in the STARS program, and all green-industry professionals are invited to join the program.

The new STARS Safety Program for Green Industry Companies on CD includes:
- A comprehensive Company Safety Policy on topics, including motor vehicle safety, preventing back injuries, return-to-work/modified duty programs, chemical safety, reporting and investigating accidents, complying with OSHA and more.
- Guidance to green-industry companies on implementing and further developing the Company Safety Policy, in the form of checklists and tips.
- More than 50 ready-to-use forms, sample policies, payroll stuffers and other safety ideas successfully used by others in the green industry; many of these forms are provided in Spanish.
- Resources for additional information.
This new safety program on CD is designed for green-industry companies of all sizes. Improving safety can greatly reduce employee injuries and resulting workers’ compensation claims, OSHA citations and other job-related injury costs.
The safety program on CD is free (one copy) to PLANET members who also have joined the STARS Safe Company Program
The CD is available at a reduced price of $50 to STARS program participants who are not PLANET members, $25 to PLANET members who are not members of the STARS program and $75 to companies that are not members of PLANET.
