The Perennial Plant Association (PPA) recently elected new officers to its board of directors. The elections were held at the Perennial Plant Symposium in Montreal, Quebec, in July. This years newly elected officers are as follows:

Central Region Director: Martha Smith.

• Smith, from Marcomb, Ill., is a University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Specialist. She is replacing Cindy Gilberg as the central region director. Gilberg served in the position for six years prior to the 2006 Symposium.

Western Region Director, Nanci Allen

• Allen, of Bow, Wash., was reelected to her second term as the western region director. She is also the chairperson for the PPA research committee.
