Publications Available from The Morton Arboretum
Two publications from The Morton Arboretum are available, including one new one, a new Spanish language reference booklet, Tree & Shrub Care Guide. It is designed for use by novice and experienced home gardeners, students and landscape professionals.
The guide contains eight up-to-date plant information leaflets covering tree and shrub planting, pruning, mulching, watering, fertilization, and trunk wounds and decay. The price of the guide is $6 (quantity discount available). A more comprehensive book in English, The Tree & Shrub Handbook: Selection, Care, Pests, Diseases, is an easy to use reference for selection and care of trees and shrubs.
Written for novice and experienced home gardeners, students, and landscape professionals, its loose-leaf format allows for easy updates. The handbook features 31 color plant selection brochures and leaflets identifying hundreds of trees, shrub, vines and other plants recommended by The Morton Arboretum for their suitability to Midwest landscapes. In addition, 60 up-to-date plant information leaflets cover tree and shrub pests, diseases, planting, pruning, and other maintenance topics.
In 2003, the book received a Garden Globe Award from the Garden Writers Association of America for its content, style, and value to gardeners. Cost of the Handbook is $50 ($45 for arboretum members) plus shipping and handling. Both publications are available in the Arboretum store, via the Arboretum Web site (www.mortonarb.org), or by calling the Arboretum Store at 630-968-0074.
