Husqvarna Supports National Charity Through Chain Saw Carving Events
Husqvarna has donated five chain saws to be presented at carving events that benefit America Responds With Love, a national non-profit organization.
The first event, the Scandia Chainsaw Carve 2006, was held at the Red Oak Campground in Scandia, Pa., on May 12 and 13. The event was sponsored by the Scandia Volunteer Fire Department and featured dozens of expert chain saw carvers from across the country creating a variety of figures and artwork.
America Responds With Love received 20 donated sculptures from the Scandia event. The sculptures will be placed in the Respond With Love Creature Garden in a public park in Harrison County, Miss., justnorth of Gulfport. Among the animals carved were an egret, a heron, an alligator (the official reptile of Mississippi) and an owl.
The organization intends to create Respond With LoveCreature Gardens throughout the U.S. that will feature a variety of wooden wildlife creatures and art pieces that reflect the local community, accented by native flowers, plants, and shrubbery. America Responds With Love plans to become involved in four more carving events this year, receiving additional sculptures for future locations.
Husqvarna provided five 346XP chain saws to be presented to participants in the carving events on behalf of America Responds With Love.
“We appreciate Husqvarna’s support of our program and our plans for the Respond With Love Creature Gardens,” said Richard A. McDonough, president and chief executive officer of America Responds With Love, Inc. “The Respond With Love Creature Garden is being well received in Mississippi, and we’re looking forward to planning and building additional gardens across the country.”
“America Responds With Love provides important services to those in need,” said David Zerfoss, president of Husqvarna Professional Outdoor Products U.S. “Our support of the organization through these carving events will help expand its impact to reach even more people.”
America Responds With Love, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides emergency housing and other services to people truly in need throughout the United States. During the past 23 years, the organization has been—for the most part—very quiet about its work. Since 1982, more than 102,000 people in emergency need have been housed through the programs of America Responds With Love throughout the United States.
