The Toro Company Celebrates Intergeneration Week
The Toro Company announced it will celebrate the state’s Intergeneration Week with the Minnesota Vikings and Olson Middle School through several community beautification projects in the city of Bloomington. Using Toro’s landscape maintenance equipment, volunteers will provide lawn care services to The Richardson Nature Center, Masonic Home and Creekside Community Center.
Intergeneration Week, supported by the Minnesota chapter of Volunteers of America, connects generations through communication, celebration and education to build healthy communities. By uniting several generations of volunteers in its annual local beautification project, The Toro Co. will also support this effort.
“This is Toro’s third community service project day with Olson Middle School,” said Stacy Bogart, director of Toro’s Giving Program. “Toro is very proud of its long-standing partnership with the school, and we continue to be impressed by the students’ enthusiasm for volunteerism. We are pleased the Minnesota Vikings can join us for this special day, and the students are excited about the opportunity to volunteer side-by-side with the Vikings.”
The day’s volunteer efforts at Masonic Home include mulching, planting and assisting with other clean-up needs. Masonic Home, a nonprofit organization that was first established in Bloomington in 1920, currently houses approximately 450 senior residents.
The second crew of volunteers will spend the morning at The Richardson Nature Center, weeding, mulching and collecting seeds for the area’s wildflower restoration program. Participants of all ages will have a chance to practice environmental stewardship.
The final group of volunteers will work on beautification projects such as mulching and cleaning out flowerbeds at Creekside Community center, a connecting site for hundreds of Bloomington residents including seniors. All three groups will come back together at the Masonic Home at 10:30am for a pep rally with the Minnesota Vikings, where the athletes will discuss the importance of volunteerism with the Olson Middle School students.
