Turf Grass Workshop Scheduled for Oct. 12-13

The Turf Grass Workshop sponsored by RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment) and the Agrochemicals Division of the American Chemical Society originally slated for August has been moved to October 12 and 13. The workshop will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Crystal City, Va. Online registration for the workshop began July 1 at www.pestfacts.org.

This workshop will offer top turf grass researchers from universities such as Cornell, Oklahoma State and Texas A & M as well as industry researchers from Dow AgroSciences the opportunity to share their most recent studies with the turf grass industry and regulatory officials.

The research presented will be a culmination of several years of studies by leading turf scientists. Presenters have been conducting studies on the amount of nutrient run-off from healthy turf versus other type landscape and lawns as well as the environmental fate of pesticide products applied to turf grass.

“The benefits of healthy turf in protecting the environment are not well understood by the public,” said Jim Skillen, manager of Formulator Issues for RISE. “We are looking forward to learning more about the positive benefits of healthy turf.”
