Wisconsin Landscape Federation Approves Name Change
The Wisconsin Landscape Federation (WLF) recently approved an association name change at the 2005 WLF State Convention at the American Club in Kohler, Wis. The WLF will now be known as the Wisconsin Green Industry Federation (WGIF).
Each of the six member associations under the WLF umbrella organization submitted suggestions for the Federation’s new name. On Oct. 26, 2004, the WLF Board unanimously voted to change the name of the WLF to WGIF. The change could not take effect, however, until the Federation’s bylaws were amended by a two-thirds vote of the Board of Directors, after the proposed amendments were published for review by the general membership of the WLF’s member associations. The name change was ultimately passed at the WLF Board of Director’s meeting February 20, 2005.
The Federation’s leadership decided it was time for a new name that better represents the current and future membership of the organization. “We wanted a name that would easily identify our organizations, the industry and who we represent,” said WGIF Executive Director Brian Swingle. “In four short words, the WGIF clearly represents all of the Federation’s membership,” Swingle added.
